Carrollian hydrodynamics from symmetries

چکیده

Abstract In this work, we revisit Carrollian hydrodynamics, a type of non-Lorentzian hydrodynamics which has recently gained increasing attentions due to its underlying connection with dynamics spacetime near null boundaries, and aim at exploring symmetries associated conservation laws fluids. With an elaborate construction Carroll geometries, generalize the Randers–Papapetrou metric by incorporating fluid velocity field sub-leading components into our considerations argue that these two additional fields are compulsory phase space variables in derivation from symmetries. We then present new notion symmetry, called near-Carrollian diffeomorphism, demonstrate symmetry consistently yields complete set hydrodynamic equations. Furthermore, presence fields, results thus those already presented previous literatures. Lastly, Noether charges diffeomorphism their time evolutions also discussed.

Relabeling Symmetries in Hydrodynamics and Magnetohydrodynamics

Lagrangian symmetries and concomitant generalized Bianchi identities associated with the relabeling of fluid elements are found for hydrodynamics and magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). In hydrodynamics, relabeling results in Ertel's theorem of conservation of potential vorticity, while in MHD it yields the conservation of cross helicity. The symmetries of the reduction from Lagrangian (material) to Eu...

Flavour from accidental symmetries

We consider a new approach to fermion masses and mixings in which no special “horizontal” dynamics is invoked to account for the hierarchical pattern of charged fermion masses and for the peculiar features of neutrino masses. The hierarchy follows from the vertical, family-independent structure of the model, in particular from the breaking pattern of the Pati-Salam group. The lightness of the f...

Soft Terms from Broken Symmetries

In theories of phyiscs beyond the Standard Model (SM), visible sector fields often carry quantum numbers under additional gauge symmetries. One could then imagine a scenario in which these extra gauge symmetries play a role in transmitting supersymmetry breaking from a hidden sector to the Supersymmetric Standard Model (SSM). In this paper we present a general formalism for studying the resulti...

Lorentz Transformations from Intrinsic Symmetries

We reveal the frame-exchange space-inversion (FESI) symmetry and the frame-exchange time-inversion (FETI) symmetry in the Lorentz transformation and propose a symmetry principle stating that the space-time transformation between two inertial frames is invariant under the FESI or the FETI transformation. In combination with the principle of relativity and the presumed nature of Euclidean space a...

Non-Gaussianity from Broken Symmetries

Recently we studied inflation models in which the inflaton potential is characterized by an underlying approximate global symmetry. In the first work we pointed out that in such a model curvature perturbations are generated after the end of the slow-roll phase of inflation. In this work we develop further the observational implications of the model and compute the degree of non-Gaussianity pred...
